I'm researching a Connelly/Conley family that might have come from Cherokee. My Grandmother is 94 and tells the story that her Grandfather "walked over the mountain" into Fannin County, GA. The only thing I know about John M. Conley is he was born in 1850 in NC and his mother, Elizabeth was living with his family in GA in the 1880 Fannin County census. So his father must have been dead by then. He married Nancy Watkins, who was born in GA. They had 13 children. The male children's names were William Lemuel Conley, John Littleton Conley, And George Washington Conley. Thanks in advance for any and all help. Linda Atkins
