Thanks Cathy, I may be grasping at straws...but Leathy ROBERTS & her children, Elijah & Maranda, received this land in Cherokee Co., NC paid for by John STANDRIDGE. My first inclination is that she was a STANDRIDGE..married first to a STILES...later a ROBERTS/ROBBARDS. She & the ROBERTS children are on the 1870-1880 Polk Co., TN census.......so maybe if I stretch it...she was Letitia Jane "Leathy" ..... Elijah ROBERTS was my great-grandfather who lived his adult life in Isabella, Polk Co. I have a copy of his death certificate...but his 2nd wife Mrs. D.M. "Salah" ROBERTS a/k/a Daisey, nee BEAVER{S} didn't fill in anything...If she weren't already dead, I'd murdicate her myself....Elijah is buried at Ducktown Cem. with his 1st wife, Sarah Jane BROOKS, who died 1903. All of these ROBERTS, BROOKS, STANDRIDGEs, etc. are in both counties.....any further help will be greatly, greatly appreciated!!!!!! <BG> I'll be up there for 10 days doing further research next month...I'll see what other deeds/wills I can come up with.... Thanks for listening, CAT Cathy Hall wrote: > I know nothing more about her, but there was a Jane Standridge on the 1840 > Polk Co. TN census.
