I have made little progress over the last several years in confirming the parents of my G/GF, ARCHIBALD FAIR, and wife HOLLY (?), both of whom were born in Burke County, NC in the early 1800s. They migrated to Cherokee County, NC in the 1830s and moved on over to Monroe County, TN after 1860 where Archibald died in April 1880. Their oldest son, ELIJAH, and wife, Susan Robertson, also moved to Monroe County and were still there in 1880. Archibald's youngest son, Austin, was somewhat retarded and stayed with his mother and father at least through 1880 before returning to Cherokee County where he died in 1915 according to county records on the internet. This message is an attempt to determine the disposition of Archibald's other children if they remained in Cherokee County--Matilda M.H., James W. (or M.), Adeline, Elizabeth C., and George W. If anyone has records of intermarriage with any of his family, to include ELIJAH, I would appreciate hearing from you. I have extensive material on Archibald's other son, CHARLES (my G/GF), who settled in Union County, GA and married SARAH WHITE, daughter of WILLIAM WHITE and RACHEL BRACKETT. Thanks for caring.
