Hello, would anyone have any info on any Cherokees in Texas in 1850, 1860, 1870-1900? Specifically San Augustine County, Texas? My ancestor is said to have been a full-blooded Cherokee bought over from Mexico to Texas and ended up being sold as a slave. I was also told that each state has a 1900 Indian Census? Does anyone have any further info on this? One of my relatives told me also that my Indian ancestor would take her grandchildren trough to the woods and show them the "markings" left by the Indians when they were ran off their land.
