    1. [NCCHEROK] My Indian Ancestor
    2. Hello, would anyone have any info on any Cherokees in Texas in 1850, 1860, 1870-1900? Specifically San Augustine County, Texas? My ancestor is said to have been a full-blooded Cherokee bought over from Mexico to Texas and ended up being sold as a slave. I was also told that each state has a 1900 Indian Census? Does anyone have any further info on this? One of my relatives told me also that my Indian ancestor would take her grandchildren trough to the woods and show them the "markings" left by the Indians when they were ran off their land. Can anybody shed any further light on this? Any info that you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Ehier7tz@aol.com

    1. [NCCHEROK] website update
    2. Shane S.Ratledge
    3. Some readers may be interested to know that I've added several new links on my website "Kinfolks in the Knobs." New links include additions to the Cline family. Also, I've added the McNabb family with a photo link on the McNabb twins who served in the Union during the Civil War. In addition, I've made a new link called "Related Surnames Index" from the home page. Listed on that new link are many surnames of families connected through marriage to the primary families on the site. Beside each surname are navigable links to take you to the various pages wherein these surnames can be found. The list of current surnames with links include the following: Allen, Ashe, Ball, Barlow, Beavers, Beshears, Birdwell/Bridwell, Brashears, Brooks, Brown, Buckner, Burchfield, Burger, Caldwell, Calvard, Cantrell, Carden, Carver, Casteel, Cobble, Cochran, Collins, Conner, Conrad, Cook, Derrick, Divine, Dobbs, Dockery, Dodson, Donohue, Duff, Dye, Ellis, Farmer, Fox, Gay, Goins, Goodin, Greenway, Griffith, Harrons, Hawkins, Hunt, Hyde, Jack, Jimerson, Johnson, Lee, Lovingood, Lyles, Matthews, Maupin, Maxwell, McClanahan, McCracken, McDaniel, McKeehan, McKinney, Miller, Mintz, Moses, Newman, Nicholson, Ogle, Orten, Pangle, Payne, Presswood, Preston, Rider, Robinson, Rogers, Rudd, Russell, Sain, Satterfield, Shell, Slaten/Slaton, Smith, Stephenson, Stinnett, Taylor, Thomas, Tinker, Torbett, Wade, Walker, Watson, Whaley, White, Williams, Wood, and Wright. 3. Hi Folks -- I know I'd promised a couple of Cherokee Co. researchers that I'd xerox and send materials from the Heritage book, Vol. 1. Had been busy, and unable to get to it. Then, my email crashed, and I lost the messages with snail mail addresses and names. Sooooo, if you're one of the ones I owe copies to, please email me again, remind me which family I'm doing for you, and give me your snail mail address. I apologize for the inconvenience, and will get things out quickly as soon as I hear from you Judy

    3. Diann, Although I don't know you personally and have never met you, my most sincere condolences are sent to you. I too lost my dad in March of this year from heart failure. I had previously lost my mother to colon cancer fourteen years ago in August. It is never easy on anyone to lose a loved one, especially your parents. Once again my most heartfelt condolences.
