HI I AM LOOKING FOR THE LINES OF HOMER W. LONG LATE OF ANDREWS NC.(CHOREKEE CO.) THANKS!! TOM PAYNE @ thepayne38@yahoo.com
I'm looking for Cherokee County marriages between 1905 and 1937 for a possible record of a Hattie (nee Ramsey) Buckner and W.F. Anderson. William McKinley Ramsey had 4 daughters, Nora and Hattie by wife Rachel Roxie Mary by wife Mary Jane Mason Arietta by wife Winnie Gertrude James In his obituary all four are mentioned Nora=Mrs. M.O. Johnson (Miller Oscar) Roxie=Mrs. Glenn Martin Arietta wasn't married until later to Mr. Joyce Walker that would leave Hattie to be Mrs. W.F. Anderson, but I've seen Hattie's tombstone which is marked as Hattie Buckner
I had been looking for information about Mary Elizabeth Hudson and found a marriage record for Jason Millsaps and Mary Hudson in Cherokee Co. on Feb. 27, 1865. They are counted in the 1870 census this way: 1870 census of Cherokee Co., NC; Cheoah; p. 262 Jason Millsaps 24 TN Mary 26 TN George 4 TN Andrew 2 NC Joseph 1 NC Mary 1 NC I believe Mary may be a daughter of Clinton Hudson and sister of Martha Ann Hudson Barker. Does anyone know anything about this Millsaps family? ...Charlotte
This listing is of Jason & Mary Picklesimer Millsaps. Jason was the son of Andrew & Mary Melson Millsaps of Monroe Co.TN who relocated back and forth between Cherokee & Monroe. I have listings for 8 children. Andrew's sister Triphena m. William Williams. They migrated from Monroe to Cherokee in 1850. These are my ancestors. Jo Ann Giles JAGiles1936@cs.com

According to my notes, there is a Soundex index for North Carolina for 1910.
Hi Judy, I have access to that census (1910 NC Cherokee co) but I will not be able to get to it until Wednesday (05 Jan 00). Let me know if you still want me to do it. Thanks Kelly -- guess I'd better get my extra-strong reading glasses and prepare to go blind going through microfilm. Was hoping it wouldn't be necessary. Hope your year is off to a great start. Judy - According to USGENWEB the 1910 Cherokee Co. census has not been assigned for internet transcription yet. I don't know of any other online sources (maybe someone else does). Unfortunately, that means a trip to the National Archives for microfisch look up. Good luck! -- On Sun, 02 Jan 2000 21:42:44 BaggyGenes wrote: >Does anyone out there have access to the Cherokee Co. 1910 census, or >know where I might be able to find it online or in print? > >My gg-grandfather, Joseph Anderson Kimsey, died in 1911. Does anyone out there have access to the Cherokee Co. 1910 census, or know where I might be able to find it online or in print? My gg-grandfather, Joseph Anderson Kimsey, died in 1911. I'm trying to locate him on the 1910 census. He might be living in the household of his son-in-law, Jasper Queen, or he might still be on his own. I'm also after his son, Agnew Courtney Kimsey, who shows on the 1900 census. He later moved the family to TN, but I'm not sure when. If I locate him in Cherokee Co. in 1910, that'll be one more step. Any help greatly appreciated. Judy
Hi, I have been researching my Deaver roots from NC for some time now. While most of my research has been in Buncombe and Haywood Counties, I know some of my ancestors were born in Murphy (Cherokee County). From what I understand, Nathaniel Deaver may have been born there in 1807. I am more certain about some of his children (wife Adriah Dyer) being born there: Richard Albert Deaver (abt 1828) William Jasper Deaver (July 1833) Levi Deaver (abt 1836) Ruben L. Deaver (1838) Roland Nathaniel Deaver (1843) Archiball Singleton Deaver (1847) I have seen reference to other Deaver branches living there, like Frances Arabella Deaver (1807-1875), who married Thomas Jefferson Cooper and had kids there. Do any of these ring a bell with anyone? Thanks Joe D. Deaver http://ancestry.deaver.com jdeaver@eaze.net ancestry@deaver.com
Thanks, Phillip! That's just the kind of info that I need! I'm glad to have helped you on the Parkers. Eugene Hampton has uploaded a great deal of data on Parkers to the net. He is related to the Valley River Parkers. There are links to his site on various other sites. I've just finished uploading the rest of Jonathan Blythe's children's family groups -- four additional links to my website. Additional new surnames now listed on the related surname index include the following: Baldridge, Benge, Blair, Brown, Johnston, Lowry, McClure, Sanders, Sutton, and Thompson. Dear Sandra, Beautiful site! I'm working the Parker line also and your information is filling in some gaps for me. I'm still going through your information, but I have John A. "Jack" Parker married to Martha A. Moss, no date; source: records of Shawna Green Hall. Your info corrected the death date I had for Jack. Kind regards, Philip Sheppard Beaufort, South Carolina
Hi Sandra -- First, congratulations on a great website!! Very nicely organized and easy to navigate. Second, I saw something that really piqued my interest -- you show a Sarah W. Abernathy b., 13 Jun, 1824 d. Dec. 8, 1913, married to Jonathan Welch. Both Sarah and Jonathan are buried in Harshaw Chapel Cemetery. Here's my question: Do you know who Sarah's parents were, and do you know if she and Jonathan lived out their lives in Cherokee Co? Many thanks -- Judy
I've finished typing and uploading family group records on all of the children of Jonathan and Annie Blythe to my new website called "Valley River Relatives." Besides surnames of the major families listed in my last email, the related surname index now includes the following: Abernathy, Allison, Barnes, Bean, Beck, Bell, Buffington, Cadle, Clingan, Corn, Cunningham, Davidson, Daws, DeArmand, Deaton, Delisie, Ditmore, Downing, Fields, Gilstrap, Goddard, Hammontree, Hardin, Henry, Hickorynut, Hughes, James, Kell, Kimsey, Lane, McNeil, Meroney, Millsap, Monteith, Moore, Moss, Osborne, Panther, Powell, Robinson, Rogers, Shoop, Sneed, Taylor, Tucker, and Vannoy. It will grow as I type and add more links to the site. The URL is http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~snipper Happy new year! Sandra Ratledge
Does anyone have access to death records in Cherokee Co NC? Looking for Elizabeth Permelia Collett Conley Holland that died 20 Jan 1915. Also, is there a cemetery book? Looking for a listing of her in Valleytown Cemetery. Does anyone have her in 1880/1900 or 1910 census? Is there any proof that her husband Andrew Jackson Conley was in the Home Guard for confederates? Is there a court record that leaves her with the property after he was killed by bushwackers? One last question: In the Heritage of Cherokee Co it says that Andrew and Elizabeth's marriage license was dated 15 Feb 1849 but what county? They are not listed online with the other Cherokee Co marriages. HELP> Donna
