Does anyone have any info on George NEWMAN or his brother Scott NEWMAN, sons of Samuel Simpson NEWMAN and Charlotta Jane PAYNE? They were born between 1830 and 1860's. Their siblings were Mahalia, Cleave, John F. James Charley, Mary Jane and Freelan H. Thanks Ruth
Thanks, Tom! That's a wonderful compliment! I love Cherokee CO, NC and would enjoy retiring there someday. I think it's grand country, and the friendliest people in the world are there! We went up there Sunday afternoon to get some photos of the Welch tombstone in Jonathan Parker Cemetery. We had never found that cemetery before. The first person we found in Marble told us right where it was. Billie Leming was the third person we asked, and he led us through the woods and over the hill to the cemetery. We would never have found it on our own! Everybody you meet there is kind and helpful! I'm glad you are enjoying the website and that it reminds you of home. Sandra
HI ENJOYING YOUR SITE SO MUCH IT IS ALMOST AS GOING BACK HOME (ANDREWS) NC.I CAME TO CALIFORNIA IN 1952, MOVED MY MOTHER HERE IN 1995 DUE TO HER HEALTH THAT WAS LAST TIME I WAS THERE. THANK YOU. Hi All -- I've been able to get another page done. It's the death records and all the 'B' surnames (Bryson, Burgess, etc.). There is a small section where the dates were very hard to read at the edge of the page. Where in question I put a ?, if a date was blank, I put an X. Diane
Hi All-- I've just forwarded several emails that I've received, while I'm working on new records, maybe someone on the list has some information that might help. Patty Brock -- Thank you for your offer to do lookups on the 1870 census, I'll get it posted shortly. I appreciate the offer.

Do you have any information on Lee or Camel Taylor? Lee Taylor is listed in 1880 Polk County census with Minerva, Harriet, Gordon (Gorda), Campbell, Julius, and Virgil. Lee Taylor is probably from Cherokee County, North Carolina. Could you please see if Lee Taylor is listed in the 1850 Cherokee County census with Camel Taylor. Thank you for your help! Sincerely, Mark Bennett

-------- Original Message -------- Subject: Charles Middleton Stiles Date: Sun, 5 Mar 2000 18:34:56 +0100 From: "bird777" <test@topsurf.com> To: <golden@flex.net> Hi, I'm trying to discover something about my 3great-grandfather, Charles Middleton Stiles. He was born sometime around 1815-1825, was the son of Charles Stiles. He was born in Benton County, North Carolina or Persimmon Creek, Cherokee Co., N.C. He married Telethia Conley. Charles Middleton Stiles was a member of the legislature according to a letter written by my greatgrandmother. Telethia Conley married Charles Middleton Stiles on April 14, 1841 in Macon, North Carolina. They had at least two children: my 2greatgrandfather, Joseph Lafayette Stiles who was born on Persimmon Creek, Cherokee Co. N.C. on May 7, 1842. He died in Fort Smith, Arkansas in 1904. Charles Middleton's father, we have been told was Charley Stiles, who was a Baptist preacher and died in Memphis, Tennessee on his way to Texas. Joseph Lafayette's sister was Sarah Haseltine Stiles, who was born Jan.4, 1846. He named his daughter, my greatgrandmother after his sister. Her name was Jemima Haseltine Stiles. We have been told that Haseltine was a family name. If you have any information about these ancestors of mine I would really appreciate your help. My email address is: lauratealeaf@excite.com Thank you very much, Laura Lee Donoho
