Mustered in as Private. Promoted to Corporal in May, 1862-February, 1863. Wounded in the knee at or knee Chancellorsville, Virginia, May 1-3, 1863. Hospitalized at Lynchburg, Virginia, where he died on June 25, 1863, of wounds. [NCT Vol. 9:297] FINGER, DOCTOR FRANKLIN, Private, Company K, 46th Regiment, NC Troops - Born in Catawba County* where he resided as a farmer prior to enlisting in Catawba County at age 28, March 13, 1862. Present or accounted for until wounded at Bristoe Station, Virginia, October 14, 1863. Returned to duty prior to November 1, 1863. Present or accounted for until wounded at Wilderness, Virginia, on or about May 5, 1864. Returned to duty prior to June 22, 1864, when he was sent to hospital with an unspecified complaint. Reported absent sick or absent on furlough until November 11, 1864, when he returned to duty. Present or accounted for through December, 1864. Paroled at Newton on or about April 19, 1865. Finger, Robert Pinkney Finger, Franklin Crooks Finger Buried elsewhere are: FINGER, DANIEL, Private, Company A, 12th Regiment, NC Troops - Resided in Catawba County and was by occupation a laborer prior to enlisting in Catawba County at age 17, April 27, 1861. Present or accounted for until wounded at Malvern Hill, Virginia, July 1, 1862. Discharged July 6, 1862, by reason of being under age. [NCT Vol. 5:121] FINGER, DANIEL, Private, Company K, 46th Regiment, NC Troops - Born in Catawba County* where he resided as a farmer prior to enlisting in Catawba County at age 30, March 13, 1862. Present or accounted for until hospitalized at Richmond, Virginia, October 18, 1862, with "pneumonia." Furloughed for fifteen days on November 14, 1862. Died in Catawba County on or about December 31, 1862. Cause of death not reported. [NCT Vol.11:231]. His name is inscribed on the memorial plaque to the Fallen 600 Catawba Confederate. This will be dedicated during the Old Soldier's Reunion, the 3rd week of August, 2005. B, 8th Batallion, Junior Reserves. [NCT Vol. 11:67] Buried at Grace Lutheran Church, Newton, NC. FINGER, Sidney M. - Enlisted as a Corporal on 22 March 1862 at the age of 24; Enlisted in Company I, 11th Infantry Regiment North Carolina on 31 March 1862. Transfered on 30 July 1862 from company I to company S. Promoted to Full Quartermaster Sergeant on 30 July 1862. Promoted to Full Captain on 16 June 1863 (8th Congressional Dist of NC. Asst QM).
