Mrs. Davis and Mr. Walker have recently released a paperback book on World War II Veterans from Cleveland County, North Carolina. Dr. Davis is from Spartanburg County, South Carolina. She is a professor with Converse College. Mr. Walker is from the Rutherford County area. They have several other books to their credit; such as, "World War II Veterans form Rutherford County, Volume I", "Rutherford County WWII Veterans, Volume II" and "Spartanburg County WWII Veterans". The program will consist of a slide presentation and book signing. Any and all Cleveland County veterans from World War II are also welcome to come and sign books. Special tables will be reserved for each veteran in attendance. Everyone interested in local and family history is welcome to join BRGS members on Sunday, June 12, 2005 at 3 p.m. The meeting will be at the Neal Senior Center on H.T. Harris Drive, Shelby, which is just off of Hwy 18 near Ross Grove Baptist Church and Ingles, north of the city limits. The meeting will be held in the Dining Room at the rear of the Neal Senior Center. Everyone is asked to bring their favorite salad or pickup food for refreshments! Cleveland County NC Heritage Books, Volume II will be available after the meeting.
