    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/SSB.2ACE/621.1 Message Board Post: My maternal grandfather, Martin Luther Sain was born Dec., 1861, in Lincolm Co., NC, to Solomon Sain and Elmyra Holman. He came to Lamar Co., TX, in late 1800s as several cousins preceded him there from Lincoln Co., NC, one being John Wesley Sain, a double cousin as their fathers married sisters in NC, John Wesley Sain's mother was Eleanor Holman, I don't have my Sain file before me, but Weinhardt Sain was an uncle of my grandfather. Solomon's father was Peter Sain, one of several sons of Jacob Sain, born & died in Lincoln Co., his wife being Catherine, maiden surname unknown. Two Sain families settled in NC, the other being Casper Sain and families in Rowan Co., NC. In 1983 a Sain Lady in Arizona said she believed Casper and Jacob were brothjers or cousins. My maternal grandmother told me the Sain name was anglicized after soldiers invoaded the Sain home looking for hoarded flour and sugar, this apparently being in Germany. Most Germans came to Philadelphia via Amst! erdam. I found a Jacob Zin and Casper Zin living next dor to each other in Penn. in the late 1700s. I haven't heard of the surnames listed in your messaage so probably your book wouldn't help me. Solomon Sain went off to the Civil War and was never heard from again, and I find no record of him in CSA records. Probably blown to smithereens. Jim W.
