The furtherest back I can go is John Delain in the 1810 Census. I believe he is the father of Allen Delain (DeLane) who is my gggrandfather. Allen's son (my ggrandfather) was Alvin DeLane who faught in the Civil War. Alvin's son was DeMos Everett DeLane. DeMos Everett DeLane was my grandfather. Any information about these very elusive people will be most welcome. I particularly would like to know where John came from and why the spelling of the name changed. Thanks so much! Elaine Griner
