Alabama Feb.22,1852. We have spent years and dollars trying to find the parents of at least three Houk/Hoke/Houchs in this area. One is my Harrison Hoke/Houk , Lender Houk, and you can pick the third. I know that Coleman Houk/ Hoke was living with Harrison in the 1850 Catawba Cencus. I know that Harrison had enough money or land to sign a marriage bond in 1845 in Lincoln County N.C. Lender lived in Caldwell Area Harrison lived in Lincoln County area. They have at least one name in common in the family naming pattern and that is Clay. May be a Joseph to cannot remember. Harrison was born in 1816 and died in Catawba County in 1906. He states he was a "Miller" by trade. He bought land in about 1846-1856. One of the pieces of land is in Hickory next door to the Millers Lutherun Church and accross the street from St. Stevens Church. He married Sarah Ann Taylor. Proof is written in Sidney Houks funeral record from the church and she is buried next to him in Millers and St. Stevens Cemetery. I have a wonder????? for the four years of the civil war his wife had no children and yet there are no records that he served in the Civil war? Where was he?
