Does the carnival that was always held with the Old Soldier's Reunion count? And the Catawba County Fair? Mother always took us to the carnival after the Reunion. I got to ride the pony and win wonderful glass beads. I can still smell the sawdust and cotton candy. I can't remember where the fair was held before the new fair grounds were built but we would go at night with mother and daddy. My brother and I wore matching plaid shirts with our cowboy belts.
