    1. [NCCATAWB-L] MOSES, Dave or David (full name: King David MOSES) and Mary Frances HELMS
    2. Dear fellow subscribers, Can anyone out there help me? I am at a TOTAL brick wall. I am "pleading" for any help anyone can give. My father (63) has recently been diagnosed with a serious illness. This is the same father for whom I was so desperately seeking the grave of Gaither A. MOSES awhile back. Thanks to a lot of kind people, I found Grandfather Gaither MOSES' grave in Laurens County, SC. However, my brother and I have found NOTHING on David or Frances MOSES, other than to discover they were supposedly married on January 17, 1877 in Burke County and one of their sons, Gaither MOSES was supposedly raised around Ben's Knob, NC, which I understand falls very, very close to where the county lines of Rutherford, Burke, Catawba AND Cleveland counties meet. I am once again begging for your kindly help as time is running out on me! They went by Dave or David and Frances, however, as I understand from a relative, their full names were King David MOSES and Mary Frances HELMS (or HELLAMS) MOSES. They would have been my father's grandparents and my brother's and my great-grandparents. Known children of David MOSES include: Lola MOSES (believed to have married a BABB or BALB and to have owned a farm in upstate SC; she is buried in Laurens County, SC) Ruth MOSES (who married a BELL and she is buried in Laurens County, SC also) Colonel Gaither MOSES (a/k/a Gaither A. MOSES -or- G. A. MOSES and who is buried in Laurens County, SC) Joseph MOSES (believed to have lived in Gastonia, NC and went by "Joe" Moice J. MOSSES (died in Gaston County in 1917 and is buried in Bessemer City, NC -somewhere - we don't what cemetary) NOTICE the name variation, however, her\ death certificate lists Dave and Frances HELMS MOSSES as her parents. David (or Dave) MOSES may have been married prior to marrying Mary Frances HELMS (or HELLAMS) since it is believed that Gaither had some half-brothers and half-sisters. We have discovered that Gaither was apparently brought up around Ben's Knob on "CC" Road (don't know the spelling of the road) - near Casar, NC and still in Burke County. If ANYONE can supply any information to give me a lead in the right direction, I would be most grateful. I promise, I am NOT too lazy to do my own work (I have been to the Burke County Register of Deeds and the Burke County Library) - to no avail. Part of my problem stems from the time frame - my grandparents were born and married BEFORE birth, death and marriage records were being kept. I have also strained my eyeballs out at the Burke County Library trying to find some information on census microfilm. I am at my wits end and as I mentioned above - time is running out for me to find this information. Please forgive the length of this message but I sincerely hope someone out there can help me. ... NOTE: Please "CC" any replies to my brother Jimmy at [email protected] -if you would be so kind as he is not subscribed to this list. Thanks! .... Warmest regards and thanks in advance for your kindness...
