Debbie - many of the Deal's from Newton NC also settled into what's known as the 'Great Copper Basin'... They were closely intertwined with my Hyde's - one of them even dwelled with one of my ancestors in order to work in the copper mines. The cemeteries in Polk Co TN, Fannin/Rabun/Gilmer Co. GA, and Western NC's all have Deal's in them... From Catawba Co NC, I descend from the Sherrill's. My Susannah Sherrill married James Barnes and they're buried in Cherokee Co NC in the community of Bear Paw. Their descendants settled in Polk Co TN (Grassy Creek community) where many Deal's were.
