Is the writer referring to St. James Lutheran Church located between Newton and Maiden? If so, he may be looking for the old Haas Cemetery located on the Sigmon Farm. I suggest he goes to the Catawba County website which has a listing for the Haas Cemetery. St. Stephens is located in the (what else?) St. Stephens section of Hickory.
