He was more commonly known as "Hamp" or "Hampton". Has anyone come across a Sherrill male, about age 30, in 1860?? He is likely not head of the household in 1860, but may be living with relatives or friends. In 1850, he is in the Cuthbertson household in Union Co. By 1862, he is back in Catawba Co. and enlisted in Company K. Family story is that he was born in Statesville in 1830. If I could find him in 1860, perhaps I will have a new clue in searching for the correct Sherrill family. I would really like to find his parents and sibs.....do you have any 30 year old Sherrill males in your 1860 data? Thanks for your help! Tami
Hi, all I could find was born 16SEP1830 in Hickory, NC and died 30JAN1895 in Hebron, SC. Two wives Sarah Ann Smith born 1DEC1841 in Bennettsville, SC and Sue Eli Welch.
