    1. LEMONS Roll Call
    2. Hello, I'm new to this list and I'm hoping someone can help me out. I've just found out that some great-uncles were in this county on the 1920 census and I'm hoping that someone has some connection with them or has run across them. I'm looking for Roy Lee Lemons and his wife Estelle Summers Lemons and his brother Eli J.Lemons and his wife Phoebe Horne/Horn Lemons. Another brother Abraham Lemons was also listed. Roy and Estelle are buried at Fairgrove U. Meth Cemetery and Eli and Phoebe are buried at Eastveiw Newton. Does anyone know if there is a marriage book for this county for the years 1910-1930 or is the courthouse the only way to find these records. Any leads on the Lemons family or the Marriage records will be appricated. Many thanks Clarice

    1. Andrew Seitz 1768-1851
    2. Still trying desperately to climb over, crawl under, go around, crash through, or otherwise navigate past a 50+ year brick wall, in the search for the parents and siblings of my 3rd great grandfather, Andrew Seitz (1768-1851). Through my own efforts, and the efforts of many other researchers, I have accumulated quite a bit of Seitz data on the Seitz/Sides families who trace back to the earliest of those who came to the Anson, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Lincoln, Catawba, Cabarrus, and Stanly counties in NC. In spite of the data, I still cannot connect my Andrew to any other Seitzes in that area. Through the info I do have, I can however rule out many individuals as the possible father of my Andrew. The earliest record for Andrew Seitz that I am aware of, is a record of deed in Lincoln Co. NC for the purchase of 100 acres of land, (bordering on William Bost's property) from Eve Weaver on 9 May 1794. This was probably a year or so after his marriage to his wife Mary Magdalena, a daughter of William Bost. Andrew later sold this property to Godfrey Bolick on 6 Aug 1800. On 9 August 1808, Andrew purchased 340 acres on Whitener's Creek, a small branch of the Henry Fork River, about four miles west of the town of Newton. This spot of land was only a short distance west from the property puchased on Anthony's Creek in 1794, and about three miles from Old St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where William Bost attended and, possibly Andrew attended as well. Andrew resided there until 23 August 1817, when he sold the property to Jacob Lutes, (Lincoln Co., NC Deed Book 28, pp. 471-2). I believe these parcels of land are within the borders of present-day Catawba Co. Sometime shortly thereafter, Andrew, along with his family and extended family moved to Warren Co., Tennessee. This Andrew is often confused with the Andrew Seitz/Sides (believed to be the son of Johann Heinrich Seitz/Henry Sides and Dorothea Felsinger) who was b. abt. 1747 and married Margaret------. My Andrew is not among the known children of Andrew and Margaret. Peter Seitz, another son of Johann Heinrich Seitz (Henry Sides) and Dorothea Elizabeth Felsinger who went to MO. had a son named Andrew also. Thomas Seitz, a son of George Adam and Susannah Peterson Seitz went to Warren Co. TN at the same time as Andrew, but no connection has been made between Thomas and Andrew. Andrew is not mentioned in the will of George Adam Seitz. Thomas had a grandson named Andrew, but that may not be significant. Can anyone help? I am also interested in any news articles concerning UFO sightings in the area about 1790 which might explain how Andrew appeared out of nowhere. Warmest Regards, Barney

    1. JOHN H. HEDRICK AND MINERVA/BALCH/BOLCH/BOLICK
    2. I am looking for information on a John H. Hedrick b. 1829 North Carolina who was a wagon maker and wife Minerva Jane b. 1832 NC. This family I think lived in Cocke Co. Tenn as I find a John Hedrick living in the household of Daniel Hedrick age 30 & Susan age 28 in the 1850 census Cocke Co. TN. The Balch family left Catawba Co. NC in the early 1850's and moved to Cocke Co. TN. Then in the early 1870's part of the family left Cocke Co. TN and moved to Webster Co. MO. John H. Hedrick moved in 1865 to Boone Co. Indiana and lived in Whitestown. He was a Democrat and Lutheran. He is listed in the 1870 census Boone Co. IN in Worth Twp. age 41. His wife Minerva Jane b. 1832 d. 5 Dec 1914 Worth Twp, Boone Co. IN. I believe this Minerva Jane to be a Balch and daughter of Henry Bolch/Balch/Bolick and Sally Hunsucker Any help appreciated. 1. Abernathys, late 1700s
    2. BaggyGenes
    3. I have recently rec'd undocumented information showing a Miles Abernathy Sr., b. abt. 1770, m. Amy ?, b. abt. 1775. Three known children were listed: Ellen, b. 1798, Jacob, b. 1799, and Miles Jr. (aka, Michael?) b. 1803. I'm wondering if this is the Miles D. Abernathy who later married Susannah Paar. If birth and marriage dates commonly given for these two are correct, Miles D. was 37 when he married Susannah -- if that's so, in all probablility, there was an earlier marriage. The 1810 Lincoln Co. census shows three Mileses, one of whom might be a match for Miles D. Again, information I've seen indicates that Miles D. was born, lived and died in Lincoln Co. If so, the Miles on the 1810 census is almost surely Miles D. If it is him, then there was definitely an earlier marriage because Susannah Paar could not possibly be the mother of the older children. Therefore, I'm wondering if Miles D. might have been married to "Amy" earlier, and come into the marriage with Susannah with several children. I've checked the Lincoln Co. Abernathys to no avail, and am hoping that a Catawba researcher might recognize this particular Miles and his family. The Miles/Michael mentioned is probably my ggg-grandfather, who married Isabella West on Nov 18, 1826. The surety on their marriage bond is William Larken Bradshaw, so there may be a Bradshaw connection. Most of the Cherokee Co., NC Abernathys descend from this couple, and we're all going crazy trying to figure out who Michael's parents were. Any help on this lot of Abernathys will be most appreciated. Judy
