I would like to know if anyone had a Reinhardt relative living in Newton around 1855? B. R. (Bud) Thornburg Savannah, Ga.
Mary, In "The Catawba Soldier of the Civil War" by Professor George W. Hawn there is a listing and a sketch of George F. Rinck (Co. F 23rd Regiment) in addition there is a letter by George that describes his experiences in the war. Other Rinks listed in the book are Eli F., Henry, C.R. and John. Thought this may interest you. This book should be accessible in several libraries in Catawba County. It was printed by Clay Printing Co. of Hickory, NC in 1911 and was reprinted by them recently, so yes they are still in business and probably have copies for sale. If not, I would be glad to photocopy pages for you. William D. John was born around 1790 or maybe a little before. He married a Elizabeth Robinson in 1805 and a Elizabeth Marshall I think around 1830. He still paid taxes in Linc. to around the 30's. I am trying to figure out which one you would have known. Was it Samuel Rink if so this was off of Henry Rincks son Jessee. who had a son named Samuel I am also looking for information on that family also. I think Samuel had several wives if I am not mistaken. I live in the state of Washington so its hard for me to find the ones left. I have also not been able to find Frantz Rincks burial place or his wife Marys maiden name. I do get back there a couple times a year and try to put all the pieces together. do you know any of the relatives of either John or Sam Rinck. Thank You, Marion! I am researching COLLINS, WARLICK, BAKER, JOHNSON, HOYLE and numerous others in Burke Co, Lincoln Co., Catawba Co. and other surrounding counties. I am also researching Templeton, but in Scotland as my 2nd great grandmother was Margaret Templeton b. 1810 in Dalrymple Parish, Ayrshire, Scotland. She married John Dempster and they came to America in 1841. Maybe your Templetons came from the same place as mine! Sincerely, Marjorie Fletcher, Salt Lake City, UT Trace Your Roots !
