I am looking for Court Records/Deeds or any other Records for a Jacob Shook before 1800. Does anyone have the books where this information is available, someone that would do a look up for me <g>. Abstracts of Deeds: Lincoln Co, NC by Dr. A. B. Pruitt or CIVIL ACTION PAPERS 1771-1806 Of the COURT OF PLEAS & QUARTER SESSIONS BURKE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA LAND RECORDS or any other records availabe! I am trying to determine as close as possible when he left Lincoln Co., NC for Buncombe Co., NC. I know he left in time to be on the 1800 census in Buncombe Co., NC. In the area that is now Haywood Co., NC. I really need this information because some people or trying to have Jacob's old house declared a Historial Monument and say it was built in 1768. I do not believe this is possible. Any help would be most helpful. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer me. Wylene Alston [email protected]
I don't know much about my line. Her name and their wedding date. Some of Jemima and Nathaniel's kids were, Lawson, Banks (my Direct ancestor), Logan, Josh and James, were twins. Nathaniel was a witness for the marriage of Elias Reynolds and Margert Mostiller on April 14, 1830. That's all I know, except they lived in the Vale area of Lincoln county, NC, this is close to Catawba, NC. Lucy
Thanks so much for your information, every little bit helps! Wylene Alston
Wylene - From the book "German Speaking People West of The Catawba River in North Carolina 1750-1800", by Lorena Shell Eaker, 1994, "JACOB FULBRIGHT , b.22 Dec 1747 Northampton Co., PA, d. after 2 Jan 1848 Haywood Co., NC, no wife's name found. One source says he m. Barbara Plunket and d. 19 Jul 1844 but there is a conflict of dates. RWP #R3826, filed 2 Jan 1848 gives his birthplace and date and says he moved to Lincoln Co., NC 1769. He appears in Lincoln Co., NC land records many times. 1790 census shows him with six sons and three daughters." and then this: "JOHANN JACOB SHOOK, b.19 Apr 1749 Northampton Co., PA, d.1 Sep 1839 Haywood County, NC, m. 1786 Isabella Weitzell. 1790 Buncombe Co., NC census: 6 males under age 16, 1 male over age 16, 3 famles. RWP #S7486 - Lived in Lincoln Co., NC during the war and then to Buncombe Co. and Haywood Co. Applied for pension 3 Oct 1833; m. Isabel Wizel (Weitzell). He served under Capt. Daniel Smith and Rudolph Conrad." The Jacob Shook I am looking for is probably the father of your Jacob Shook! He moved from Lincoln Co., NC late 1700s, and settled in Haywood Co., NC. Same family, wrong generation. I am looking for land and court records to establish exactly when Jacob Shook sr moved to Haywood Co., NC which was at that time Buncombe Co., NC. Wylene Jacob Shook applied for Rev War pension in Haywood Co NC in 1833 at age 84. He was awarded $20/annum. There were supporting statements of his pension by Andrew Shook and Jacob Fulbright. -

Have you come across a Jemima Reynolds? She married my ggggrandfather Nather Nathaniel Mitcham in Lincoln county, NC, in 1801. Lucy Cook Reynolds was spelled Rannals on the marriage certificate.

Could you please post this to your list for me: I have found something related to the HELMS surname and would like to return it to someone in the family. I have the hospital nursery card and the hospital birth certificate which has the footprints on it for a Ronnie Steve HELMS, parents Kenneth Steve and Geraldine HELMS. The baby was born in Cleveland County NC and I found them in Catawba County NC. I am sure the mother would like to have this back, especially since the footprints are on the certificate. I am not a subscriber to the list, but you can contact me at [email protected] Don't let another child be hurt by ignorance, educate yourself about Tourette Syndrome. www.tsa-usa.org
