    1. Re: [NCCATAWB-L] Hahn,Hawn, Whitener, Ward
    2. HI Beryl Hawn: this info I have was from photo copies at the Catawaba Library. I wish I did have a few books. I am just writing down extra info on the photo copies for our family tree, The John Hetrick, Soloman Hedrick, Anderson Headrick Line. There are soooo many people one every page. So I thought "I wouldn't waste the info. I will to post it." I know on our family there wasn't a whole lot of info on the web.

    3. To: Shirley (ISEEDEADPEOPLE) and anyone else who may have heard of the following people: I have been reading with interest your postings from the books you have. I think we have some of the same books. The author GEORGE W. HAHN who wrote the book The Catawba Soldier in the Civil War, had two other brothers in the war at the same time. One of the brothers was ELISHA L. HAHN. My children are his direct descendant. In fact my son looks quite a bit like him, going by the photo in the above book. I have seen the huge family tree of the Johannes HAHN family on the web, and have found where our branch ties into it. I am interested in the descendants of ELISHA's HAHN's children, (his wife was Rhoda Louise WARD). Children of Elisha and Rhoda were Guy W. HAHN, Tom B. HAHN, John Walter HAHN (marr. Mary Victoria WHITENER - this is our branch), Charles Edward HAHN, Ulrich HAHN, Parks Hahn and Clyde HAHN. Thanks for reading this. Beryl Hawn

Introduction: This is a migration history of more than six hundred immigrants(heads of household) who pioneered the settlement of the present - day North counties of Burke, Catawaba, Cleveland, Gaston, Lincoln, and Rutherford. Emphasis is upon time of arrival, spouses, children, children;S marriages, and where families moved. Others information, were available, included ships the settlers arrives on and points of departure from Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania as they moved south. Documentary evidence of origin in Alsace, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Germond provinces of Europe, some as many as five generations prior to emigration, has been located on surprising number of families. Sources are listed throughout the volume. Many of these emigres participated in the early settlement of Missouri. By 1810 they were moving into northeast Arkansas, the westward. Many families are followed as many as four generations after, tracing pioneer progeny south and westward, and as far north as southwest Virginia, Kentucky, southern Indiana, and as far north as southwest Virginia, Kentucky, southern Indiana, and Illinois to continue the repetition of names on land records and tombstones. This is a culmination of forth-six years by the author; the generous contributions of many longtime associates, and expertise in European research generously of many contributors by Miles Philbeck and others individuals. It is a one- of-a kind guide to an important group of immigrants as they pioneer in the settlement of America. By an Unknown Arthur. This was found a the Catawaba Library in Newton, North Carolina. Others say Philip m. ca 1792 to Maria Margaretha Helderman. This writer suspects she may actually be the 2nd wife of John Miller of Potts Creek who moved to CGC. MO. The only problem with that is that Sophia, Dau. of John and Catherine Miller in MO, identifies her mother as having been born in NC and census indicates she was b. 17550 GO. Perhaps the 27 Nov. 1966 is her baptismal date. This raises another question-- are we dealing with two separate Eckert Families? LC, NC Wills: 9 Jan 1797, probate Jul. 1803: Adam Wills to: wife Mary; eldest son Martin all my children including a stepdaughter, the wife of Nicholas Fry, Mary by name; Martin, Simon and Adam Eckert; Mary Fry( step Dau.); Elizabeth Nill; Catherine Miller; Margaret Koontz; and Barbara Eckart, Spinster. NOTE: I have no positive proof that Adam Eckert of Fredrick Co., MD is this one. It is the general consensus that he is. 5A Simon Eckert, b. 14 Apr. 1768 d. 26 Nov. 1838 LC, NC; m. ca 1788 I. C, NC------- Reputed to be a Dau. of Joseph Hartle/Hartle. However, Joseph, Joseph Hartle's family records don't seem tom bear this out. A Simon Eckert was m. Polly Boovey, Dau, son of Matthias, but doesn't appear to be this Simon. Needs further research. There is no stone in the cemetery for Simon's wife. 6A. ADAM ECKERT, JR., b. ca 1768 (may be twin to Simon), d. before 1850 Census CTC, NC; m. before 1790 LC, NC-------- b. ca 1770. Reputed to be the Dau. of Joseph Hartlie/Hartle. See above note. In 1880 dam and wife were both over 26 and 1820 both over 45. To hvae m. before 1790 would put his birth date 1770 or before. 7A. MARGARET ECKERT, b. c1771 LC, NC d. 30 Jun. 1848 LC, NC; m. William Coonse, b. ca 1765 d. 31 Jul. 1842 LC, NC. 8A. BARBARA ECKERT, b ca 1773 was still a spinster (single) when Adam made his will 9 Jan. 1797. She would not be the one who m in 1784 LC, NC to Cornelius Eckert/Acord CTC: HB: 144 Idem # 203-- In Oct 1942 eight or ten graves were found about a mile from Conover, NC, Est of the road leading to Lail School, but only had three markers Hans Adam Eckert 1775; Magdalen Echert 1799; Daniel Eckert 1803... " By July 1944 these stones had been removed and cemetery b. was destroyed." CGH, MO DB C: 271 Henery Eckert witnessed a deed for Daniel Harleroad ca 1808. Henry is unidentified. *****************************************************************************John Joseph Eckert/Ecard, b. 1750-56 d. 1839-1840 Census Harrison Co., IN; m. ca 1772 (note say in SC.)
