Hello, I'm a new kid on the block, in Indiana. (1) Does anyone know of a reputable researcher who might be interested in checking some Caswell Co. records for genealogy information? (2) My g-grandfather, George Washington Merritt (GWM), a Millwright, moved his family to Stokes Co. in the late 1850s. His mother Catherine (Kitty) Merritt accompanied him there. She is recorded in the 1860 Stokes Co. Census as a 60 yr. old female living in the GWM household. Kitty Merritt appears alone in the 1840 Caswell Co. Census. Apparently she was widowed at that time. I am trying to trace their roots back to Caswell Co. and to learn who GWM's father (Kitty Merritt's husband) was. Any suggestions/help will be very much appreciated. Sincerely, E.H. Merritt
