I am also interested in this discussion, as I have similar roots to K. McGee. Thomas WILLIAMSON was the first husband of Martha JONES. Their daughter Elizabeth married Colonel John WILLIAMS. These were my six-great grandparents Colonel John and Elizabeth's daughter Elizabeth married Azariah GRAVES (1768-1850). Azariah's parents were John Herndon GRAVES and Isabella LEA, daughter of James LEA and Ann HERNDON. I am descended from this line through Azariah's and Elizabeth's daughter Frances and her husband Josiah SETTLE. Pat Hansen -----Original Message----- From: K. It was my understanding that William Park Swift was the s/o Rev. Wm Swift and Frances Waddy who was the d/o Anthony Waddy and Sarah Parke. I am connected to this group this way: My 4th Great Grandmother Martha JONES had previously been married to Thomas WILLIAMSON before she married Thomas NANCE Martha JONES Williamson's son Nathan WILLIAMSON married Sarah SWIFT and had Elizabeth WILLIAMSON who married Samuel SMITH who was s/o Samuel SMITH (my ancestor) and Martha NANCE [d/o Martha JONES Williamson Nance] In other words the grandchildren of Martha Jones Williamson Nance married each other. I have another connection this way: My 3rd Great Grandfather Samuel SMITH (husband of Martha NANCE) had a 1/2 sister through his father, John SMITH's marriage to Martha Potter whose name was Rachel SMITH. Rachael SMITH married William RUSSELL and had a son Charles Charles RUSSELL married Margaret WILLIAMSON who was d/o (I believe) Hawley WILLIAMSON and Margaret SWIFT Hawley Williamson was the s/o Thomas WILLIAMSON and Martha JONES In a publication "Genealogy of the Smith Family of Rockingham Co., North Carolina," by J. Fletcher Smith, there is this: >She had one brother who moved to Virginia; one sister who married a man by >the name of Potter and moved to Tennessee; another sister married a Mr. >Trotter, and moved to Western North Carolina; and another sister married a >Mr. Micheux and moved to Burke County, N.C. > >After her father (5), Mr. Nance, died, her mother married a Mr. >Williamson, and they had two children, a son and a daughter; this daughter >married a Mr. Prather, and the late Robert Prather of Guilford Co., N.C. >was a descendant of this marriage, and also a large family of Swifts & >Graves were descendants of this half-sister and half-brother of 'Martha >Nance'. Al Thomas and Swift Williams and John and old Calvin Graves of >Caswell Co., N.C. were her relatives. I'm trying to find and connect all of these people. The Prather I think I have found and they are as follows: Leonard Deakins PRATHER who married Frances WILLIAMSON, who was the d/o Thomas WILLIAMSON and Martha JONES. They had Robert Richardson PRATHER who married someone and had two children . . . [I haven't gone further] I would like to further fill out these connections and to locate the GRAVES and THOMASes mentioned in the quote. And to find the SMITH and JONES ancestors (plus a few others <G>) Hope you all can help. K.
