What a coincidence! I recently began listing names of Caswell Co. families who moved to Sumner Co. TN when I found a reference in a Caswell Co. estate file to relatives living there. The more I looked, the more familiar names I found. So far I have the following: Richmond, Boren, Greer, Motherall, Brown, Kimbrough, Noel, Carney, Sanders, Murphey, Rice, Dorris, Donoho, Graves, and Mitchell. I'm sure there are many more. Most seem to be centered around Drake's Creek. Some of these families moved together in the 1760s from Orange Co, VA to the area of Orange Co, NC that became Caswell Co. and then on to Sumner in the early 1800s. The Sumner Co., TN Bond Book (1787-1835) by Shirley Wilson abstracts several Power of Attorney documents from Sumner Co. people settling property matters in Caswell Co., NC. Mary Wiley Campbell
I have followed Cook families from Orange Co.,VA, to Orange and Chatham Co.,NC., (some wives were Caswell Co.,NC) a few on over to Rowan Co.,NC---then they ended up in Christian Co.,KY with part of them going first to Sumner Co.,TN.. I read one time, and in my ignorance, in early days of researching I did not retain it, but read there was a great wagon train that left Rowan Co.,NC early 1800's and that was the time period my own Cook-Wicks parents left NC.
