Where did you find a birthdate for this John Shearman? I know he died Apr 24, 1784 in Caswell Co., NC, source: NC Archives, Granville Co. Wills 1772-1954 Vol 1 pages 402-404, will handwritten. This is from a Meredith Clapper. John and Catherine were married in Lunenburg, VA. Yes I too believe that he is from the RI Shearmans, but cannot find the connection.
