I think one of the Kings was one of the first surveyors of Kentucky. This would be earliers than the 1800 you mention, would these be your Kings? Peter Turney Sr who died 1804 in Smith Co TN was one of the first surveyors for North Carolina of what became Tennessee....so he kind of hung out with other surveyors, that is probably where I have seen the King name.
