    3. 18 Sep 2002 I have read lot of land deeds for Caswell County that reference the Jordan Creek. The only one I am familiar with is in Alamance County. It flows near the Caswell County border, but parallels it and as far as I can tell does not cross it. Hughs Mill Creek flows from Caswell to Alamance and into the Jordan. Is there another Jordan Creek in Caswell Co or does the same Jordan Creek flow in both Caswell and Alamance? Or perhaps the deeds all refer to the creek in Alamance? Most of the deeds mentioning Jordan Creek say nothing about the County line. Any help appreciated. Thanks..... John Hughes

    1. Early HUGHES Land Grants

    3. 18 Sep 2002 Does anyone have the "metes and bounds" transcriptions for the following three Land Grants from the State of North Carolina: Billy (HEWS) HUGHES, book B, page 251, 13 Oct 1783 James HUGHS, book D, page 213 Charles HUGHS, book D, page 214 These are in Caswell County and are in the Caswell County Deed Books. I have many other HUGHES' I'm interested in, but these seem to be some of the earliest. I believe these Grants were around the Stoney Creek area. There is also a Hughs Mill Creek which flows into Orange County, Jordan Creek, and is listed by this name as early as 1760. I have not yet found a land record for the Hughs that obviously owned property there that early. Thank you.....
