Listers, As most of you know, I have transcribed the 1880 Census and was in the process of posting it on the Caswell Co. page. In case anyone has not heard, the great news today is that the entire 1880 Census has now been posted for free on the LDS web site. The search page for 1880 Census is at: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=census/search_census.asp I think I will simply remove what I have already placed on the Caswell Co. page and instead just post a link to the full Census. Hello Caswell List Recipients, I'm looking for information on William Anglin who married Ann ?? in Caswell. They reared their children there- John, daughter, daughter, Cornelius, William, Aaron, Sarah/Salley, and Catherine. I'm looking for the burial site of William Anglin and would appreciate any information that can be provided. Perhaps someone can do a cemetery look-up, or perhaps there is an old Anglin homeplace with a cemetery. I welcome any Anglin information. Thanks, Ramona Smith Supensky

But I do know that John Swift, son of my William Park Swift and his wife, Sarah Tate, did marry a Pheobe Mott and settled in Georgia. Sarah Tate Swift made a deed of gift to each her children: "Deed of gift document of Sarah Swift to her children, 1 January 1832, clarifies the names of her children." In the deed of gift to her son, she gave the state of residence for him as Georgia. I strongly suspect that visits were made among the various family groups back and forth from Georgia. Families would take their visiting relatives to church with them, and they would have plenty of opportunities to get acquainted, as visits would usually be no less than a month at a time. I recently acquired a copy of a transcription of the diaries of Alfred Fielder of Tennessee [compiled by Ann York Franklin] whose mother was Susannah Waddy Swift, and a sister to John, and when Alfred served in the Civil War, he was often close enough during some of his liberty periods, that he would visit his Swift relatives in Alamance County and Caswell. My ancestress, Frances Tate Swift, was his mother's sister; she was married to John Windsor Tapscott, and Alfred wrote in his diaries about spending time with the family and attending church services at various churches in the neighborhood. For him the religious instruction was important, but also provided many opportunities to visit with family and friends. I don't know how Samuel Murphy related to Alexander Murphey of Caswell, but he was married to Sarah Gwyn, daughter(THIS SHOULD BE GRANDDAUGHTER) of Sarah Rice and Hugh Gwyn. Sarah was a cousin(THIS SHOULD BE GRANDNEICE) of Rebecca Rice Windsor, grandmother of John Windsor Tapscott. This could have been a case of distant cousins marrying, in the case of Samuel Murphey and Helen Swift. Do you have any information on Helen's parentage, and Samuel's? Best regards, John Fox Winston Salem, NC
Although I have researched this line for almost twenty years, I am new to this list. I descend from Archibald Murphey by way of his son, John Greene, who migrated to Rutherford County TN in 1817. I would also love to hear from someone who can help me with the relationships of the SCOTTS that married into this family. Beverly White bwhite@freeway.net

Hello Tappies and Caswell List, I just ran across the following items which involves several families in which I have an interest: the Tapscott, George and Waddy families. Representatives of these three families appeared in Caswell County, NC; the Lunsford and Payne families were represented also in Caswell, in the part which eventually became Person County, NC. In some other documents, primarily related to the Lunsford family were mentions of the Hill family, Costello family, and Ball family, all of whom tie at some point to the Tapscott family. Some of you may want to look at this site at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~vadinwid/lunsford/records/lunsfrd.htm Winifred Lunsford and Oliver Tapscott, M.B. March 21, 1784. [M.B. may be March 21, 1780 instead of 1784, Groom's name may be Tapscott Oliver]. Lancaster County, Virginia. Division of Estate of George Payne, dated February 16, 1775, and recorded April 17, 1777. To Geo. Payne's son, Richd. Housin Payne. James Brent, son & heir of Susanna Payne, John Payne, William Payne's son, George Paynes, Catharine Payne, Richard Payne, Frances Stephens, Moses Lunsford, Benjamin Waddy. You have William (son of Peter and Lidda/Lena) married to an Esther Strader. I have a record of a land transaction between "William Graham and Rachel his wife of Caswell County to Conrod Strader of same". This was for 215 acres on the orth side of Hogan's Creek dating 29 Nov. 1777 per Deed Bk P. page 37 Caswell County. Do you have a father listed for Esther? I was wondering if there was a connection.
List, Thanks to all of you who sent me a list of your surnames. I was going to respond to everyone individually but did not realize we have such an active list. Decided that all of you would be better served if I just said "Thanks" and kept on working on the page. Most of the marriage bonds are now online and I have all the 1880 Census transcribed as of this evening. It will start going up slowly tomorrow. It is done but still takes time to format, etc. so it may take a couple of days to get it all online. Once we get the 1880 Census done, we will start posting the 1850 images which I have. I have not transcribed all the 1850 but will put the images online with a link to HH so they should be easy to search. I sincerely appreciate the responses from ALL of you. It is truly my pleasure to be able to work with such a great bunch of folks! Nola nduffy@patch.net
