My Grandfather told how his father died sometime after being in a fight on some railroad tracks. He was beat in the head with a crowbar. He didnt die right away. John L. SIPE died 2-21-1914 in Mt Holly. He was taken back to be buried at Mt. Zion Church north of Conover. I found his stone, a Woodsmen of the World Memorial. I have a Catawba Journal that says doctors were baffled as to the cause of death. Could anyone look up newpapers for Mt Holly or Gaston Co. to find out what they say? I would like to know if the man who beat him every went to trial for a crime. Thanks for all responses. Cathy Sipe Coffer
