    2. Ann Harvey Lahtinen
    3. Hello, I have the microfilm at the LDS FHC this week for the 1777, 1780 and 1784 Tax lists for Caswell Co. NC. I found Andrew Harvey, possibly my GGGGGrandfather, listed on the 1784 Caswell Co. Tax list for Glouchester district. In his Rev. War Pension Application my Andrew Harwell aka HARVEY states that he was married in Caswell Co. NC . I would be very grateful for any information, no matter how small <G>, regarding the HARVEYs or HARWELLs of Caswell Co. NC. Thanks in advance for any information! Annie

(I just realized that it wasn't done with range-township-section numbers here.) Or I can get a copy of the map and mail it to you. By the way, I noticed in my copy of "An Inventory of Historic Architecture; Caswell County, North Carolina" by Ruth Little-Stokes that there are two Cooper related homes in Hightowers Twp. where the cemetery is located. One, the Blueford Cooper House, ca. 1830 and the other the Currie-Cooper-Smith house, ca. 1860. (That is if Cooper is the surname you are working on.) Hightowers Twp. is also where my Woods family lived. Shelley

    3. JAMES E. MITCHELL Posted by Tom Fox <[email protected]> on Fri, 26 Mar 1999 Surnames: Mitchell, Jones, Murphey, White, Bowman, Anderson James E. Mitchell b.Apr 11, 1796 place unknown.Died May 10, 1871. Buried with his wife Frances Jones at Friendship Church, Alexander Co, NC. Married 1st Margaret Murphey 18 Nov, 1819 of Caswell Co, NC. 2nd Fannie (Frances) Jones Feb 8, 1833 of Caswell Co, NC. The family is listed in the 1850 Wilkes Co, NC census. All were born in Caswell Co except James E. Mitchell. His place of birth could be Benton or something similar. James E. Mitchell had a grandson by his son David L. Mitchell, his name was Anderson Mitchell. Anderson was born in Alexander Co, NC Feb 10, 1872. His Mother was Susan Bowman Mitchell. There was another Anderson Mitchell born abt 1800 in Caswell Co, NC. His parents were David and Ann "Anderson" Mitchell. After being educated Anderson lived in Wilkes Co, NC and served in state government. David is said to have had a brother William who helped his sister-in-law Ann Anderson Mitchell collect a Rev. war pension in Caswell Co, NC. William gave his home at the time as Rutherford Co, TN. Does anyone know anything about William? Back to James E. Mitchell, who were his parents? Could William or David be his father? Some time after 1850 he moved part of the family to S.W. Alexander Co, NC. Living in the same part of the county was William Iverson Mitchell. Who was He? Was he a son of James E. and Margaret Murphey? He was born abt 1820. James E. Mitchell had a grandson by David L. named Iverson. William Iverson Mitchell married Myra White of Alexander Co, NC. He served in the civil war, enlisting in Newton, NC. Aug 4, 1861. He was later captered and died at PT. Lookout MD about May 3, 1865. I believe James E. Mitchell was closely related to David Mitchell and Ann Anderson of Caswell Co and William the brother to David. Any help in bringing this family togeather will be appreciated. 30 years of work has brought me to this point.

States that he married in Caswell Co. NC, probably between 1777 and 1784. We don't know if he married under the name of Andrew HARVEY or HARWELL. His middle initial may have been J.
