    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/BVB.2ACI/1020.1 Message Board Post: I'm not aware of any tax records that cover the entire County before 1802, however there are tax records for portions of the county prior to that date. I have Jos Bell's List of taxables for 1795 posted on my Carteret County Site (http://www.mindspring.com/~jsruss/carteret). I've not gone through everything at the NC Archives so I can't tell you which other tax lists prior to 1802 might exist. The County Court Minutes are an invaluable resource for Carteret County and an abstract of the minutes from 1723-1820 were published by the late Rebecca W. Sanders in book form. At one time the Carteret County Historical and Genealogical Society were selling copies of these abstracts on diskette.
