Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/BVB.2ACI/1032.1 Message Board Post: If you look on map of NC,go to the area of Beaufort and Morehead City.Look north of Beaufort about 15 to 20 miles and you will see the town of South River.Just east of South River,you will see an inlet that comes in and on the other side of the inlet is Lukens Island.I have been to the island myself and saw the cemetery there where I have at least one relation buried.I had to go over from South River by boat as I believe there is no longer a road off of RT 70 which runs NE from Beaufort up to Atlantic,NC. I suggest you mention your relative's names and approx dates of life,marriages etc right on the Carteret site you just posted this message and maybe you will pick up some info.Dr. Bob Lewis from the area is most knowledgeable and has all sorts of references,but I do not know his email address.If you post names,he will no doubt reach you if he has info on your family names.
