Hello again, Searching for my Native American roots. I'm trying to find my Cherokee (NC) roots. The oral history is that Mary Sampson (1774-1850) left the tribe and married a Whittington. Another story has it that the Whittington brothers left the tribe, Anglicized their names, (one taking Whittington, another Winston/Windsor). The first Whittingtons I have (in Beaufort County, NC) are: David Whittington (abt 1798 > after 1860) Washington Whittington (abt 1829 - ??) Parker Whittington (abt 1811 > after 1870) The census records have Mary living with both David & Parker at various times (in Beaufort, County). Washington is a bondsman at one of the David's wedding in 1848. Any ideas as to where to start? TIA for your assistance and suggestions.
