But I have family that was from Otway. My great-grandma, Reva Gillikin Wetherington, her brother Sammie Gillikin and her sisters Julian Gillikin and Effie Gillikin. I only knew Effie. And I am not sure if they are alive. I think Sammie passed away a while back. Anyways, I can't find anything on these people. And I have no idea if they had kids.

He married Hannah Willis. Their children were Kenneth, Aaron, and Addie. I have seen Carteret County school records in which Aaron and Addie were registered at the Harkers Island school around 1903(?). I don't know any more about Martin V. Moore- where he came from, who his parents were, or anything. Can you help me? Please contact me at: 3214 Chris St., Kinston, NC 28504 (252)522-3302 Thanks!

I have been wondering if he is connected with the Morse line. One possibility is that he is the son of Josiah Morse. In the 1840 Census Josiah is listed with 1 son age 10-15 where James Riley could fit. If anyone has any more information on this line it would be much appreciated.

However, I don't see him in the 1910 or 1920 censuses or in the Carteret County marriage records (1913 and before). I am interested in Gibbs and Lewises from Hyde County. Specifically, I'm interested in the origins of Walterman (Waterman) Gibbs, b. 1720-1725, d. in Carteret Co. about 1759. He married Mary Lewis and they had Nathaniel Gibbs (1752-1806), who moved to Beaufort Co.

I knew John L had a brother James...and interestingly enough he was born in 1801?? Coincidence?? Hmmm I don't think so. Also....another researcher had a Martha Ann in their ancestry(also Walkingstick)and John L had a daughter named Martha Ann. Another interesting phenom!

It would seem highly unlikely that they would name two sons "John"--I'm glad you sent this, I'll put your email in my notes on the family tree , maybe someone will see it and can give us an answer.

I have in my research heard that James and Elizabeth's son, John L Sanders was also referred to as John Walkingstick of the Cherokee. The kin in my family who shared this info says it's because James and Elizabeth Salmon Sanders have been noted as the parents of both John L Sanders and John Walkingstick and since it is highly unlikely that there would be two John's in the same generation...think they are one in the same. Have you heard this story and if so do you have any information as to how and why he became a "Walkingstick"??

I was beginning to think that I had misinformation again. A couple of weeks ago I found out that I had my 2 Great Grandmother wrong. An easy mistake especially when your 2 Great Grandfather was married 3 times. ( That is know about). My direct ancestors decend from Sarah Nelson and George Styron. If you find any more please keep me in mind. Feel free to use my regular e-mail. Thanks again for the info. Sincerely, Kimberly
