Specifically, In Robert Whitehurst's will (1679) in Virginia he left items to the sons of Isaac Barrington who live with him. Roberts wife, Eleanor then married Edward? Tranter and moved to NC with Roberts son Robert and presumably the Barrington boys. . Robert's son Robert shows up in Carteret County living on Nelson's bay. His neighbor is Nathaniel or Nathan Barrington. These people moved inland in the mid 1700's. Not much exists on this group of people.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Chadwick, Lewis, Haskett, Haskitt, Bell, Morgan, cowan, cowans Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/BVB.2ACI/976 Message Board Post: According to most North Carolina Chadwick family history publications I've seen Martin Chadwick, son Thomas Chadwick and Rachel Young, married Nancy Ricaud, then married a Nancy Chadwick. However, I have what would seem to be proof that Nancy Ricaud lived to be 89 years of age and is buried in Wilmington NC in a lot own by David N. Chadwick. A son of John R. Chadwick. I also have evidence of Nancy Ricaud Chadwick living with Oliver in 1870. Also in the burial records she is listed as widowed Chadwick. So my question is did Martin really marry two different Nancys? Another error is with Martin Chadwick, son of John R. Chadwick and Clarra Rourk. There are definitely two different Martin Chadwicks that where born within two years of each other. One in New Hanover and one in Brunswick Co. Most family histories report John R's Martin as being buried at the Gurganus Cemetery in Shollotte NC., however John R's son Martin died March 28 1894 in New Hanover at the age of 36 and is buried in a lot own by Divid N. Chadwick. According to marriage license he married Hellen (sometimes with only one "l") Dixon. The daughter of John and Mary Dixon in August of 1879. The other Martin was a John Martin. This Martin Chadwick is buried at the Gurganus Cemetery. He was born Dec. 9 1857. He died January 4 1932. He married Lydia Davis. He was the some of James Samuel Chadwick. Who was the son of Thomas Chadwick the possible brother of John R. and Oliver Chadwick. Additional Information on John R. Chadwick and Tamar Jones: Tamar Jones is buried at Gurganus Cemetery next to her infant daughter. She was born Dec. 2 1814 and died Aug. 11 1852. The Infant daughter lived only 6 weeks dying on Sept. 20 1852. We live only a few miles from the Gurganus Cemetery and many of our relatives are buried there.

I have a record of a Reuben Dennis in Carteret County married Abigail Hatsell, (think) son of William Dennis and 2nd wife Mary Nash. I desend from Reuben Dennis of Onslow County wife Suzanna (Dennis). Her Will is in Onslow. I know that the first Reuben's brother Francis's also had a son Reuben. I can't be sure but think probably the Reuben Dennis that had a wife Suzanna of Onslow might be the son of Francis. If anyone has any information on this family I would really appreciate hearing from you. Dorothy

Chadwick Sr.'s wife Tamar and infant daughter, also named Tamar, are buried about 6 miles from my house in a cemetery containing several of my ancestors. I was once told that Thomas came to Brunswick Co. NC with at least one brother, but they couldn't rememeber his name. He appears to have traveled a lot between Carteret, New Hanover and Brunswick Co.
