My Grandfather was Levi Fulcher (his fathers name was Washington) from Hunting Quarters. He married Emma Stryon also of Hunting Quarters. Their children were Vienna, Leslie Gordon, and Pearl. Levi Clark Fulcher, Jr. is an entirely different family. Levi Clark Fulcher, Sr., I believe was from Beaufort? and married Emma Sadler of Morehead City. It is easy to get the information mixed up with both Levis' marrying someone named Emma. What are the odds of that?

I have done some research in the New Bern Library and through LDS and found that Levi Clark Fulcher is from Beaufort and he married Emma Sadler of Morehead City. My grandfather was Levi Fulcher and he married Emma Styron of Hunting Quarters. The date for the death of my grandfather is March 1948. It is so strange when I read some of the names I remember hearing my parents and grandparents talk about them but I was not aware they were relatives. Your information has been a great help to me.

Hello again, Searching for my Native American roots. I'm trying to find my Cherokee (NC) roots. The oral history is that Mary Sampson (1774-1850) left the tribe and married a Whittington. Another story has it that the Whittington brothers left the tribe, Anglicized their names, (one taking Whittington, another Winston/Windsor). The first Whittingtons I have (in Beaufort County, NC) are: David Whittington (abt 1798 > after 1860) Washington Whittington (abt 1829 - ??) Parker Whittington (abt 1811 > after 1870) The census records have Mary living with both David & Parker at various times (in Beaufort, County). I can find no record of Alvin Piver (or Piner). There is no marriage record or bastardy bond, nor do I see him in the Carteret Co. censuses. Susan Arthur may have been the daughter of Jacob Arthur and Matilda Wade, who were married in 1847. They had a daughter, Susan J., born about 1848. This doesn’t quite agree with the age of 55 given for Susan in 1910, but ages given in censuses are often inaccurate. This Susan was an unmarried head of household in 1900. With respect to ages, you have Mary Goulding born in 1888. Yet she listed her age as 17 on her 1907 marriage license and the 1910 census shows her as 18. Also, he parents were married in Jan. 1890.
