Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/BVB.2ACI/1032.1 Message Board Post: If you look on map of NC,go to the area of Beaufort and Morehead City.Look north of Beaufort about 15 to 20 miles and you will see the town of South River.Just east of South River, you will see an inlet that comes in and on the other side of the inlet is Lukens Island.I have been to the island myself and saw the cemetery there where I have at least one relation buried.I had to go over from South River by boat as I believe there is no longer a road off of RT 70 which runs NE from Beaufort up to Atlantic,NC. I suggest you mention your relative's names and approx dates of life, marriages etc right on the Carteret site you just posted this message and maybe you will pick up some info.Dr. Bob Lewis from the area is most knowledgeable and has all sorts of references, but I do not know his email address. If you post names,he will no doubt reach you if he has info on your family names.

Here's what I have: Sameul Chadwick of Carteret Co. born Circa. 1700 (probably a little earlier though) married Mary unknown about 1726 and had at least 7 children I'm aware of. One of which was named Isiah Chadwick who did have a son named Reuben Chadwick. I was unable to follow Reuben's line. I hope this is who you are looking for because I would love to find what happend with Reuben's line. By the way, a very good source for Carteret family history information is Dr. Bob Lewis.

Surnames: Green, Newton and Johnston Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/BVB.2ACI/1013.1 Message Board Post: Denise, In 1730, Matthew, Jonathan and Isaac Green came to Carteret County from Falmouth, Mass. Jonathan and Isaac bought land in Cateret County. Matthew died in Carteret County prior to 1749, when his widow Christian, married Daniel Catholick. Mathew and Christian had a son Matthew II who was underage, and on 6/8/1749, Daniel Catholick was appointed as adm of the estate of Matthew I. I think that Matthew II had a sister Martha who married Samuel Middleton. They had a son Stephen Middleton. Anyway, in the Onslow deeds, in 1758, Danial Catholick gave young Matthew some land, so Matthew must have been of age then. In the Onslow tax list of 1770, there were three Greens, Matthew, John and William. This might be a long shot, but it could be worth you checking out. I have checked out worse.
