I have always wondered if they were related. I think William's wife was Mary and his children were (at least) Frederick and Amos Taylor.

Thamer F. born abt 1849 married William Frank Simpson 26 Feb 1874 3. Elizabeth born abt June 1851 4. Martha born abt 1856 5. Melissa born abt. 1858 6. Catherine born abt. 1860 7. Jordon born abt 1865 6. Charles T. born abt 1867 married Caroline V. Swain 22 Sept 1888. I got this information from the census of 1850, 1860 and 1880. in 1860 Anson Arthur age 15 is living w/them (I believe this is Jacob's brother) and in 1880 census their granddaughters Lucina age 1 and Lucy May born May 1880 are living w/them (Charles is only 12 so they aren't his. Susan is age 32 and Melissa is age 27). I know this information is late in coming but hope it helps.
