Thomas's father was Thomas or Tom a full blooded American Indian. HE married Bettie Hilton daughter of Old Beecham Hilton and took her name. IF you will check the 1850 census you will find Tom Jr. living with Joel's son in Caldwell. The information on Bettie Hilton comes off of the Mabe's Guion Miller applications to the Cherokee Nation. They say that Tom and Bettie's daughter Lucinda Hilton married Long John Mabe. That both Tom and Bettie had NA blood.
