    1. [NCBURKE] ANTHONY BRICK WALLS. NEED HELP

    3. Good Evening Friends: I'm going through files in preparation of scanning them onto CDs. I have a hornets nest concerning the ANTHONY family of the Catawba area as featured in German Speaking People. About the time I think I have them sorted out someone is generous and throws another monkey wrench into the mix. Do any of you have access to Burke Co. Probate or other court records for the years 1810-1820? I have a Mary Anthony who m. about 1780 to John Blackwell, a Rev. War Veteran. He was b. in Culpepper Co., VA and died in Hickman Co., TN. He and Mary lived for a time in Abbeville Co., SC then to Franklin Co., GA where she apparently died. He then moved back to Burke Co. in Oct. 1810 with his younger children where he petitioned the court at that time for their guardianship. Best I can glean is that they were to inherit from their grandfather, Paul Anthony's estate. Another paper filed by an older son Jesse Blackwell as power of attorney for John to collect his share of same estate. I have two dates on this 1810 and 1814. Paulus Anthony, SR was deceased by 1805. Other Paul Anthonys died between 1805-1820. When I was doing GSP in early 90s I did not pursue the court records from the 1810-1820 time period and have not had the opportunity to do so since. The Blackwells believe this Mary was daughter of Paulus and Sophronica, but this doesn't fit. We do know that they had a daughter Anna Maria (Mary Ann) who m. John Mull (my 4th grgrandparents). Records show there were at least 3 or more Paul Anthonys on Burke Co records between 1805 & 1820. As I work with the Paulus and Sophronica's family I can say with certainity that they had sons, Paul, Jr., Abraham, Phillip, Martin and probability of Jacob. There are a couple of daughters that have to be theirs, but I'm still struggling with them too. If any of you have anything in the way of proof to share I would appreciate any help. The Anthony records are still enough to boggle the mind. My deepest gratitude always, Lorena
