I am looking for info about my great greatuncle, Alex JOHNSON, b abt. 1834 NC. This Alex, also written as Elex, is listed in the 1850 US Federal Census for Watauga Co., NC as being 16 years of age and living with his parents Abraham and Jane[McKINNEY] JOHNSON. Alex married Polly GOUGE and had the following children: Susie JOHNSON m POPE Lue JOHNSON m Newt BANNER Marry JOHNSON m Wellington BRASWELL Roeann JOHNSON m Chiff BOWMAN John Henry JOHNSON 1857-1923 m Martha JOHNSON 1847-1935 I have been unable to locate him in the 1860, 1870 census but do know that he died 04 Nov 1877 and was possibly the first person buried in the Fork Mountain Cemetery in NC.
