James(1) was married to Margeret Ireland 1756 to 1836 I do not have a Mary Payne in my index to date so am unsure of a connection, However there were a number of Alexander in Burke County at the time and I have never to date been able to sort them out. by the way my James(1) was marred to Rowan County NC on 07 May 1773 we found a list of marrage. If you think there may be a connection contact me off list at nkalexander@sbcglobal.net and I will send you my list of parants and Childern so we can compare list you and do the same for me.
