NC Birth Index shows the following: Harold W. Gragg, b 09 Oct 1907, Avery Co., NC. Parents listed as Watler B. Gragg and Bertha Hughes Paul Donald Gragg, b. 05 Nov 1918, Avery Co., NC. Parents listed only as Walter B. Gragg, no mother's name listed. ** Don't know for sure if this is the Bertha Hughes in question, but appears to be born @ the same time as Walter. Bertha Hughes, b. 10 Feb 1885, Avery Co., NC. Parents listed as Elisha Hughes and Katy Johnson. NC Death Index: Walter B. Gragg, b. 1883, died at the age of 70 on 29 June 1962, Avery Co. SSDI shows another Walter Gragg b. 20 Sept. 1883, d. June 1964, no location given. Note the 2 year differnce in DOD. I did find 2 Walter B. Gragg in WWI draft. Here is the information for the Walter that was the husband of Bertha. Walter Burton Gragg. Residence: Hughes, Avery Co., NC DOB. 09 April 1883 Age: 35 Occupation: Farming Employer: M. B. Hughes Nearest Relative: Bertha Gragg Hughes, Avery Co, NC Blue eyes, brown hair, medium heigth and build. Date: 12 Sept. 1918 Appears by the signature of the Registar, it was his employer "M. B.
