My great grandmother was Mary Clark (1880-1967). Her parents were Joel Clark (Burke 1842 - Burke 1919) and Nancy Denton (Burke 1852 - Burke 1914). Joel's parents were Joel Crawford Clark(e) (Burke ~1794 - Burke 1836) and Elizabeth Taylor (Mecklenburg 1803 - Caldwell 1892). Joel C Clarke's parents were Benjamin Clark (SC ~1773 - Caldwell ~1860) and Sarah ? (NC ~1772 - ). Benjamin's parents were Jeremiah Clark (Burke 1739 - Burke 1780) and Nancy Ann ? (? 1743 - Burke 1836). I am wondering if anyone can confirm this info and ideally add to it! There is some doubt in my mind starting even with the first Joel Clark. I have visited his grave and that of Nancy Denton. I'm sure of her info, but his tombstone simply lists the details of his Civil War Service, but not even his birth or death dates. There are several Joels, Jeremiahs, Benjamins, etc. in Burke/Caldwell records and it gets very confusing. I've sorted out the information as best I could but would really appreciate anyone who might be able to confirm.
