My Aaron Baliu was born circa 1730 possibly in Berkshire or Chesire Co in England. He was DUTCH by descent through the famous mapmaker Williem Baleu who produced maps 1606 to 1672 (he is written up in the encyclopedia). Aaron emmigrated to north America 1743 with the allied "by marriage" Span descents of Jonathan Span the navel officer who sailed the war ship "Virgin's prize" for Maryland's wars in 1699 In lieu of pay Maryland issued him lands, he in discust, went back to England. 43 years later his descents came to claim them. But Maryland had ceded them to the granville properties. Granville properties were only too happy to honor the grant due to the party was of 300 souls and of good stock and families. (area of Cumberland region in present day Tennessee on the Pennyrile Plateau.) These lands changed names many times. my connection is Moses Span Jr married Elizabeth Baleu (Ballew) dau of Aaron Baleu (Ballew). They married in the cumberland region (Then called Chickamunga). By 1800 the Indian wars were rampunt and many of the Span allied families moved further north (now Kentucky and Roane co North Carolina.) Moses and Elizabeth Baleu Span settled in Warren Co, Ky befor 1798. He died before Warren Co split off Allin Co in 1815. Moses and Elizabeth had sons Moses III, and Aaron Span, amoung their children. Aaron Span born 1778 is my ancestor. I too am anxious to find more information please email me back. I have a lot, some good and some not so good, and a lot just family stories that I want to verify.
