I just found all the wonderful information posted by Johnny Dickson of Texas on the children of Charles William Dickson, and would love to add my family info. Immanuel Jackson spelled his name Dixson. Some of his sons kept that spelling and some changed it to Dixon. To my knowledge none used the Dickson spelling. He married Ida Vaden Garris in Union Co., N.C. July 21, 1895. She was the daughter of Benjamin L. Garris (b.1854) and Nancy Jane Gaddy (b.1860) from Anson Co.. Immanuel and Ida lived in Charlotte for about five years, then moved to South Carolina. My Dad thought that it was near Columbia, but now I will have to see if maybe it was Spartanburg. Their first three children, William, Nellie and Carl were born in Charlotte. Claude, Earnest, Mabel and Benjamin were born in S.C. The last, Mildred (b. 1822) was born in Charlotte. Immanuel was a farm agent and died of mouth cancer about 1943. If any one has any information on their years in South Carolina or how Immanuel came to be in Union Co., N.C. I would love to hear about it. I also have the spouses of Immanuel's children and approximate birth dates.
