Her name was Fannie Lou Settlemyer, Annie Lou Walker and Henry Clinton Settlemyer were her parents. Annie Lou Walker elopped with Henry Clinton Settlemyer and was basically disowned by the Walker's because she was considered marrying "beneath her". The family came around somewhat though, because I have a photo of the Walker's from the 1930s and my grandmother was in the photo seated beside her brother Andrew. In Senator Sam Ervin's book, Annie Lou Walker was not even mentioned as being her parents child. My great grandmother (Fannie Lou's mother) was Annie Lou Walker, daughter of Arthur and Nancy Walker. Arthur Walker's father was William Walker and William's father was James Reuben Walker. James Reuben Walker was Congressman Felix Walker's brother. My grandmother mentioned the names Bettis, Malone, Killian, Reed, Oliphant, Patton, Settlemyer, etc. as being family names. She mentioned a Mame (sp?) Bettis Malone - a nurse who was married to a Dr. Malone and said that they were the founders of Grace Hospital in Morganton. I would love to know more about my family Trudy, if you would kindly share with me. Joy
