This announcement is of special interest to Western North Carolina residents. The Burke County Genealogical Society is proud to again present the Ancestors in the Attic Genealogical Series. A series of Spring and Fall workshops and lectures, the Burke County Genealogical Society, through the auspices of the Burke County Library in Morganton, provide opportunities for individuals interested in family history and learning how to trace your family tree. The Fall Series will include: Session 1. Monday, September 17th -Basic Genealogy for Beginners Part I taught by Sandra West and Phillip Heavner. The session begins at 6:30 pm at the Morganton Library at 204 South King Street. Session 2. Monday, September 24th - Basic Genealogy for Beginners Part II continuing part I. Session 3. Monday, October 1st, meet Mabel Lowman, Clerk of Court, and Libby Cooper, Register of Deeds, at the 6:30 pm at the Burke County Courthouse at 201 S. Green Street in Morganton. Session 4. Saturday, October 20th will be a repeat class of Part I and II - Basic Genealogy Workshop for Beginners - and will begin at 10:00 am and end at 5:00 pm at the Morganton Library. Lunch is on your own.
