William Morris, Senior, was born 1750, filed his will in Burke Co, 1837, and died 1844. I now have a copy of his Will and also his Revolutionary War file. In his 1837 Will, he mentioned as Legatees, the children of his deceased son, William, but your Melissa Elizabeth's birth date doesn't correlate. William Senior's son, Henry married to Catherine in Burke Co 1800 Census, named one of their sons William. So, it's possible that Melissa Elizabeth was his daughter or grand-daughter. Henry filed his Will, 1844, >Burke>McDowell Co. None of the other sons, including John from whom I descend, named a "William Morris."
