Dear Burke friends, Despite being near the end of the list in budget disbursements, The Burke County Library System, under the superior leadership of Steve Harlow, has really excelled in providing information to patrons of the system. Much can be attributed to the Burke County Genealogy Society. Their members have a warm and close relationship with the Library. In addition, Burke County, so rich in historical resources has discovered how best to focus its efforts. The various groups that work so nicely together are a cultural blessing. The Genealogical Society, the Historical Society, the History Museum of Burke County, the Burke Historical Trust and the Project "Picture Burke" folks have performed nothing short of a historical preservation miracle. The Burke County NCGenWeb page owes it's existence to these wonderful folks. In so many cases, their responsibilities have overlapped. The following is an example of their dedication to providing the very best in educational experiences: This Spring, the Burke County Library reprises the favorite series, *The ANCESTORS IN THE ATTIC program*. Unfortunately, this program is held in Morganton, NC and no handouts have been made available for those not able to attend. Live presentations provide material not able to be economically duplicated for distribution. Apologies to those living away from Burke Co.
