I am told that they were Scot-Irish. Would like to know morre about how and when they came into North Carolina. My g-g-g-grandfather was Baillen Brittian O'Neal, supposedly born in Greenville, South Carolina about 1765/70. He married a Hannah Sherrell in Rutherford County, North Carolina. they had 6 sons, James, Philip, Andrew, Zachariah, Albert, and bird Brittian. there were in Greenville between 1789 and 1825/30 and left there and went to Clarksville, Habersham County, Ga., and by 1840 were in Trenton, Dade County, Ga. They came into North Carolina with the name McNeal, then changed it to Neal until they came to Ga and then changed it to O'Neal. Any information on this line is greatly appreciated.
